    Porting health insurance

What happens to accumulated benefits if a want to port my health insurance policy?

One downside of health insurance portability is that transferring accumulated benefits and bonus are limited. So it will depend on the insurer you are migrating to. If this is not all the pre existing disease cover is also something you need to look at while porting your health plan. If the current policy you have has a 2 year waiting period for a medical ailment but the new plan you port to has a 3 year period you will have to wait for one more year to get that disease covered.

When you change your health insurance policy from one insurance company to another, you don’t have to lose the benefits you have accumulated

It all depends on the insurance company where you are migrating to. However in most of the cases the accumulated benefits are also transferred.
